I have really been on a bread making kick lately. When I saw this recipe (http://blog.ruhlman.com/2010/02/buttermilk-dinner-rolls.html) I knew I wanted to try these. I was totally enticed by the photo and I totally wanted a reason to use my new spring form pan again. I was very pleased with the result.
I used the bread machine to knead the dough and rise the bread the first time.
Then I shaped the dough into balls about the size of one of those jumbo jaw breakers (I am sorry if this reference point doesn’t work for everyone, it’s all I’ve got). Then I let them rise on top of the warm stove for another 45 minutes-1 hour.
A little egg wash and half an hour or so at 375F later…tah dah!
They were beautiful right out of the oven. The spring form pan was an excellent suggestion and they tasted delicious! We had a couple with dinner with a little bit of butter, which was wonderful, but the next day for breakfast I had a buttermilk roll with some homemade apple butter than my friend Kathy made…o.m.g. Amazing. Give these rolls a try! They are totally worth the time.
